The Philips Hue app has finally received support for Siri
Shortcuts. This makes operating your smart Hue lamps a piece of cake.
Siri Shortcuts support for Philips Hue available
Philips already announced Siri Shortcuts support for the Hue
app in August, at the IFA Technology Fair in Berlin. The latest update
finally contains this support, making it even easier to operate your smart
lights.
Especially good news for people who do not have a HomePod ,
but smart lights. For HomePod owners it was already possible to operate
Hue light sources via Siri. The most important thing about this update is
that you can also combine your lights with other apps without a smart hub.
Siri keeps a close eye on things
Siri now keeps track of when you turn on your favorite scenes
in the app. At these times, the speech assistant gives suggestions to
activate the light scenes quickly. These suggestions appear on your lock
screen, in the Siri suggestions overview and - if you have an Apple Watch -
also on the Siri watch face.
It is also possible to build a Siri Shortcut with a personal
voice command to start scenes. Even more convenient: combine the light
assignment with other actions. For example, link a playlist to Apple Music
or Spotify with a certain light scene, and let Siri open the Untappd app at
once, for a special beer night shortcut.
For the Siri Shortcuts support to work, you do need the V2
version of the Hue Bridge. A bridge links all lamps and associated
accessories to each other, so that they can be controlled per room or
situation. In addition to the Siri addition, the update for the Philips
Hue app also includes the ability to customize notifications about new products
and features.
