Write out newsletters
digital technology Since iOS 10 it has become a lot easier to unsubscribe for newsletters via the standard Mail app. With just a few taps you can unsubscribe, so that in the future you will no longer receive mails from the company or shop. In this tip you can read how you do that.
Unsubscribe from newsletters via Mail app
It is fairly easy to unsubscribe for a newsletter via the standard Mail app in iOS . All you have to do is open a newsletter that you want to unsubscribe from and press the appropriate buttons:
- Open the Mail app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Choose the newsletter in your inbox where you want to unsubscribe.
- A banner with the text appears at the top of the mail This message is from a mailing list . Then tap the blue text Say subscription on the bottom .
- Confirm your deregistration in the message that appears on the screen.
What the Mail app actually does is send a mail on your behalf to the system used by the newsletter. This confirms that your e-mail address must be removed from the list, so that you will no longer receive a newsletter from the relevant company.
You can check this by looking at your sent emails. Here you will find an e-mail sent to a complicated e-mail address with a standard text. It is not necessary to keep this sent mail.
This feature to easily write yourself out may not work for all newsletters. For example, it does not work with emails from LinkedIn, because you have to arrange this kind of reporting via your profile. In these cases you will often find a button at the bottom of the mail to unsubscribe, after which you will be forwarded to the website of the sending party.
