Disable preview notifications from apps: that's how you do that

Preview notifications
Do not want to see a preview of a notification on your access screen Digital Technology ? You can switch off the previews of incoming messages in one go with a switch. In this tip we tell you how to do that.
As soon as a notification is received on your iPhone or iPad , you can read the text directly on the access screen. Even someone who does not have access to your iPhone or iPad can read it. In iOS there is a central setting that the previews for all apps on or off.

Disable preview for notifications

In iOS 10 and earlier you already had the option to switch off the preview in certain apps. This is possible, for example, for the Messaging app , so that you can not see from the access screen what is in a message. With other apps you were dependent on the developer if you could turn it on or off. Since iOS 11 , however, there is an umbrella switch that controls all apps simultaneously.

This is how you set the preview for notifications:
  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Notification .
  3. At the top you will find the Show preview option .
  4. You have three options here: Always (including from the access screen), If unlocked or Never . Make your choice.
In the second option you only see the contents of a message if you have used Touch ID or Face ID or entered your login code. At Never you must open the relevant app to see the content of the notification.

The setting can be useful for privacy-sensitive apps, so the content can only be seen if you unlock your device. The switch is only available on devices running on iOS 11 and later.
You can also disable specific notifications in the Message Center.

In WhatsApp you can control the preview settings via the app itself. For WhatsApp it goes via the settings of WhatsApp itself. Open WhatsApp and go to Settings> Notifications> Show preview. In WhatsApp you can choose whether the preview is shown with an unlocked iPhone.
