When ARKit appeared in 2017, it did not take long for developers to come up with numerous 'tape-measure apps'. Thanks to augmented reality, you can accurately measure objects in the real world by simply pointing your iPhone camera at it. Apple seems to find this such a good introduction for its AR platform, that such an app from iOS 12 on every iPhone.
The Measure app works very simply. You open the app, move your iPhone back and forth to scan the room and then you can start measuring. With the press of the plus-button you place the starting point, after which you can move the iPhone to draw a digital measuring tape. Press the plus again to place a new point and see the distance.
This is how the Measure app works step by step
1.      Open the Measure app;
2.      Follow the instructions on the screen and move your iPhone;
3.      Tap the plus sign to discard a starting point;
4.      Move your iPhone over the object you are going to measure;
5.      Tap the plus sign to discard an endpoint.
This way you can place multiple points in the same measurement, so that your iPhone keeps track of all dimensions and total area. When you have finished measuring, press the shutter button to take a picture of your measurement, which automatically appears in your iPhone film reel.

Thanks to iOS 12 and ARKit 2.0 , the app can not only measure flat surfaces, but also create walls and other vertical measurements. In addition to measuring objects, you can also use the Measure app as a level. In the bar at the bottom of the screen you can easily switch between the Measure and Level functions.
