When
it comes to keyboards, the iPad Pro has an edge on the cheaper iPad 2018 and iPad
2017 . That has everything to do with the Smart Connector. This
connection is only present on the iPad Pro and makes it possible to
connect a keyboard directly to the tablet. That way you can recharge, link
and install software updates.
Because the iPad 2018 does not have this connection,
this causes some inconveniences. So you have to charge the keyboard with a
cable and make a wireless connection between the two via bluetooth. Logitech
also had to think of another way to connect the Slim Combo to the iPad.
That
is why the device consists not only of a keyboard, but also of a case for the
iPad where you can click it magnetically. This cover also has a built-in
stand that lets you put the iPad away as a laptop. At the top of this a
holder is attached for the Apple Pencil . Handy to store one, so
you do not lose it. It is a pity that you can not remove this holder,
which makes it a superfluous piece of rubber for every iPad user without
Pencil.
A great iPad keyboard
The
keyboard is obviously the most important part of the Slim Combo, and we are
also most enthusiastic about it. The keys are a lot nicer to use than
Apple's own Smart Keyboard, whose buttons feel more like rubber and hardly move
while typing. The variant of Logitech tackles it differently, with a
keyboard that ticks away from the first minute.
A nice extra is the addition of backlight, with
which you can easily type in the evenings or in dark rooms. This is also
something Apple does not have its own iPad keyboard. Add to that a battery
life that lasts for three months with normal use, and you have one of the best
iPad keyboards in your hands.
Once
you have paired the keyboard once with bluetooth, it will automatically connect
in the future if you convert the small switch on the side. This makes the
Slim Combo easy to use and in a few seconds you are ready to start typing.
Logge cover for extreme protection
We
are less enthusiastic about the iPad cover to use it as a standard. It is
a great cover for people who want to protect their iPad as well as possible,
but as far as we are concerned, it is very heavy and heavy. He does not
honor the word 'Slim' in the name of the Slim Combo.
The cover makes the iPad a lot heavier and logger,
so that the design of Apple is almost completely lost. The built-in
standard is nice, especially if you use the iPad to take notes or watch videos.
Nevertheless,
we quickly decided to hang a standard iPad cover from Apple on the tablet so
that we could use the Logitech keyboard separately from the cover. If
there was a version of the Slim Combo with only the keyboard, then we would
have recommended to purchase it.

With
a price of over a hundred euros, the Logitech Slim Combo is not a cheap
accessory for your iPad. However, if you want to use the tablet to process
long texts, then this is highly recommended. The keyboard is the best we
have used so far on an iPad, and the sturdy case can also come in handy if you
take the iPad with you every day. If you find the design of the iPad
important, you can always use the keyboard separately from the cover.
