From the pictures of the famous rumor Benjamin Geskin it appears that there are even more improvements. On the pictures you can see that the AirPods has new holes, possibly for better sound quality.
On the packaging you can see that the AirPods 2 gets an extra sensor. The current AirPods have next to the hole on the outside one sensor that recognizes whether you have the ears or not. On the picture you can see that there are two sensors above each other. What this serves for is not entirely clear, but it does show that Apple has adjusted a few things to the model of these AirPods.
Geskin says that the AirPods 2 also gets a W3 chip for better wireless connection and that the new models give better sound. We have compared the packaging as seen on the photos with the packaging of the current AirPods. The languages below are similar. It is striking that the case on the back has no Lightning cable. Apple probably does this to emphasize that you can charge the case wirelessly.
Keep this arm on the message. Although Geskin has often been on the right track lately, it can also be one of the many AirPods rip-offs. Nonetheless, we expect Apple to unveil the new AirPods soon, whether or not during the upcoming October 2018 event .
